tuscaloosa sushi

Crimson Tide SO Amy Pauly was named SEC Defensive player of the week. Despite her small sature, 5'4, the volleyball star was named to a trio of all-area squads in high school including a third-team choice of the Chicago Sun Times. Amy plans to major in marketing. Well I'm off to Americaland tomorrow to not only attend Toonypoloza 3 (POSTER from 1st Toonypoloza) in Tucson on Friday, but also to catch the USC / Arizona game and of course an important preseason tilt between the L.A. Kings and the Anaheim Ducks. So with a weeks worth of scholarly work ahead, it was important for me to finish recruiting as I may not be able to play NCAA 07 for an entire week.

Bama's undefeated season brought in the #1 recruiting class for 2010. Whereas the 2009 class brought in a lot of skill position players, this year's focus was on OLinemen, and in total 8 were signed, two were 5 star recruits and five were 4 stars. The most notable recruit was 4 star C Brandon Cochron, he will join SO WR Kenny Thornton as the second player on the Crimson Tide who calls the one and only Kitchener, Ontario, home. With most of the starters from last year's team returning, the only immediate need was at Punter and that was filled with the #1 overall Punter, Justin Brooks of Machesney Park, Illinois. As a preventive measure to reduce stabbings in Tuscaloosa, no other Punters were recruitied.

Other recruiting and off-season notes

- six 5 star recruits were signed, the most in the nation
- with several players on the roster from Ohio, the Buckeye state was finally established as a recruiting pipeline
- JR Josh Reese a 93 OVR HB has decided to transfer from Ohio St to Bama. He will have to sit out the 2010 season, but will have one year of eligibility in 2011. No reason was mentioned for the transfer, as star RB Steve Ferguson will still be around. There may be a position switch to WR for Reese.
- JR QB Chad Arnold progressed to a 95 OVR rating!!!!!
- Should Arnold leave for the NFL early rs-SO Travis Spicer (JUCO transfer from 2009) will take over. He was impressive in the Spring Game with 3 TDs against Bama's 1st Team Def. Spicer is from Parsippany, NJ which has 18.1% asian population!!!!!!!! Spicer can be spotted at this Tuscaloosa hotspot.
- SO WR Keith Meade (84 OVR) transferred to UAB. The Memphis native and 3 6 Mafia fan was the Tide's #1 Punt and Kick Returner, returning 3 punts for TDs. But with Bama's depth at WR, Meade decided a move to Birmingham was best for his career. (no hate)
- Bama goes into the 2010 season ranked #3, while Notre Dame is favored to repeat as they sit at #1. (match-up may be scheduled)

I have more to rant on including TIFF, the new location of the google tab links, and the Buffalo Predators, errr I meant Sabres, but Rory looks upset. see ya

p.s. USC and Tucson freshman watch out!

sugar bowl sweet, but season ends on SOUR note

I completed the 4th season of my Alabama Dynasty with my first Bowl victory and a 14-0 record, however there would be no national title. The powers that be put Texas A & M and Notre Dame in the championship game, which saw Notre Dame win 51-10. The Sugar Bowl matcup against # 6 Florida St. was much more exciting. The last 1:44 of the game saw 3 lead changesending with a 60 yard TD pass to SO Joel Thompson in a 41-37 victory. Bama's two stud WRs were the stars of the game as FR Brandon Luke had 8 REC 126 yards and 1 TD, while Thompson finished with 6 REC 154 yards and 1 TD. Bama finished #2 in both the coaches and media polls with 21 first place votes in the media compared to Notre Dame's 40. Next season I'll move up to Heisman for the first time in my video game playing history. Anyways here's a couple season highlights

- In his first season as the starter SO Chad Arnold finished with 2610 yards 23 TDs and only 15 INTs, add in 3 rush TDs
- FR RBs lived up to the hype, Ferguson broke an Alabama season record with 1489 yards and 16 TDs, while Dominic Coles had 875 yards and 14 TDs (can we say Lendale White and Reggie Bush South)
- WR Thompson was 61-979-10, whle FR and Ohio native Luke was 55-892-7
- Quetin Rawls finished with 10 sacks
- CBs Jason Miles and Jimmy Fernandez had 6 INTs each
- FS Derek Green won the Thorpe award

All Americans: Greg Jones G JR, Quentin Rawls DE JR, J.Fernandez CB JR, Derek Green FS JR, John Hall K SO
All Freshman: Steve Ferguson HB, Brandon Luke WR, Alphonso Cole FS (back up and special teams star)

Dynasty Progress so far

2006 8-5
2007 9-4
2008 10-4
2009 14-0

Namath so far is 41-13 with a 1-3 Bowl Record and one conference title, I'll play a couple more years with Bama but I may move on to Hawaii, Kansas St, Pittsburgh, Washington, Western Michigan or Texas. Goal is to get 200 wins for Broadway Joe.

- also the SEC was 5-2 in bowls proving to be the toughest conference, compared to Notre Dame who doesn't play in the confences but had Buffalo and only one 10 win + team on their schedule.

Thanks BCS YOU SUCK, but not had much as Pink and Bob Costas doing the NFL. Lonelygirl15 has a new video but it sucks, word of the day kids "sucks". BRING ON TONYPOLOZA 3

something to cheer mylosh up

after all the youtube drama with lonelygirl15 (here's her interview on MTV,,, as jessica rose, not as Bree) and my dynasty disappointment with the BCS a friend was nice enough to cheer me up with the video below

yes there is a reason to live (yes I'm happy about Bama's real life win over UL Monroe too!)

now i'm off to play Florida State in a meaningless Sugar Bowl

weekend recap and bcs screw job

So much to talk about. I only had one day off this weekend, but I picked the right day. Seperation Saturday lived up to the hype. I'm sorry to all the NFL fans, but after Saturday's course of events anything else is a huge letdown. Michigan and Mario Manningham gave it to the most overrated team in the history of sports. Oregon /OU, FSU Clemson, UT / UF, Western Michigan (long time employer of my aunt and alma mater of my cousin) upsetting Virginia, all of these games were nuts. But perhaps the most insane thing that happened in college football over the weekend was Northern Colorado's 14-13 victory over Texas State. In a week which saw a Tonya Harding-esque course of events where the back up punter stabbed the starting punter, Northern Colorado would win their upcoming game with the help of a blocked punt. Irony 1, Punters 0,

Okay Dynasty news, I think the picture says it all. I should be ecstatic. After four years of hard work, top notch recruiting and an adjustment of sliders and strategies I finally go into the Bowl season with an undefeated record. But no, the computer polls decide that Texas A & M and Notre Dame are more deserving of the National Title game. I am fine with the A & M bid as they had 7 ranked teams in their schedule, whereas Bama only had 5, but Notre Dame only played one ranked team. Anyways here's a recap of the last two games I played

Iron Bowl @ Auburn
Alabama 27, Auburn 17
I am now 4-0 in the Iron Bowl. Despite Bama's domination in the series, all of the games are always tough, nothing could top last year's Iron Bowl victory. Hahaha! Yes I did tape the ending in HD quality.
With star RB Ben Tate injured, Auburn had to use true FR Thomas Carroll who had a great Iron Bowl debut with 156 yards and 1 TD. Bama's Freshman sensation, New Hampshire's Steve Ferguson matched that talley with 138 yards and 1 TD. However the MVP had to be FS Derek Green. The Junior (who was Namath's first recruit) had 10 tackles, several on third down attempts.

SEC Chamionship Atlanta
Alabama 54-17
Bama came into the SEC Chamionship against #16 Tennessee (10-2) with a #2 BCS ranking. This was a rematch of an epic battle that occured last saturday night (the night where i got hammered by myself, no I didn't call any exes, though it'd be funny if i did) which saw Bama win 36-33. This time I had an audience however the game would not live up to the hype. Ferguson ran for 175 yards and 2 TDs (can we say Reggie Bush dixie style) while WR Joel Thompson had 7 rec for 102 yards and 2 TDs in a 54-17 blowout.
Undefeated FSU loss the ACC title game to Virgina Tech so it looked like Bama would be headed to the National Title game vs. Notre Dame. However the BCS poll bumped Texas A & M from #4 to #2. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

very pissed, I will play Florida State in the Sugar Bowl, but something will be missing. Maybe a split national title will occur if A & M wins. 2009 Bama = 2004 Auburn and 2003 USC

Anyways for those who read this blog for lonelygirl15 updates, here read this grad school take and we'll discuss at lunch or at break
