quick update and a random ashley judd photo

Okay I'll make this quick because UND / Penn St along with UW / OU is on TV and I gots some drinking to catch up on before the 5:00 Texas / Ohio St. tilt. Out of respect to the author of Pancake Day I have put my lunch money on Teddy Jr. and Troy to cover the spread. So I apologize to all my peeps in Austin for this one day (don't worry I have Chris Simms in all 3 of NFL pools and I love the Don't Mess With Texas MBMA shirt you sent me).

So I had a game in Kentucky against Ashley Judd's Wildcats and this was a walk in the park. FR Brandon Luke had a huge game with 138 yards and 1 Td in a 43-10 blowout. QB Arnold was an amazing 15-16 with 239 yards and 1 TD, his only incompletion was an INT.Then it was off to L.A. (where I'm headed to on the 21st) for a matchup against UCLA and Joe Namath and the boys must've been doing some late night partying because Bama was sluggish from the start. UCLA went into the half with a 28-13 lead and Newport Beach native Trevor Theriot not only ran for 2 TDs but thew a pass TD in a trick play. But Namath and the boys sobered up at the half. FR RBs Ferguson and Coles dominated from here on. Feguson finished with 194 yards and 2 TDs while Coles had 115 and 1 TD. Arnold ended up throwing for 238 yards and 3 TDs, while WR J.T. Thompson had 7 receptions for 134 yards and 1 TD in a 50-35 shootout victory

Up next for #6 Bama, rivaly Tennessee, but for me its a hell a lot of football watching,

Oh and read this lonelygirl15 article

cheers

quarterbacks from kuwait & helen keller

with last night being opening night for the NFL (I should've started Simms over Culpepper) and with a rare WAC game being televised on canadian TV (thanks to thescore)i did not get a chance to play a game in my dynasty. i know, i know, this is no excuse but Two a Days was on MTV Canada and I also had a visit from the lovely neighbour hood pitbull, Floyd.therefore its time for another installment of "meet the team." the last segment took us to the birthplace of a blues legend and to a fishing town in New Hampshire, this time we visit the hometown of another famous figure.

Chad Arnold, QB Sheffield, AL
having most of the starting skill position players in my 2009 season coming from out of state (Ferguson RB - NH, Coles RB - LA, Thompson WR - FL, Luke WR - OH) it was refreshing to have an instate player at QB. the 3rd year SO hails from Sheffield situated between Muscle Shoals and Tuscumbia in northern Alabama. Muscle Shoals is perhaps best known for being mentioned in the southern rock anthem "Sweet Home Alabama" while Tuscumbia is home to the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, but more importantly it is the birthplace of Helen Keller. Sheffield has a low average house hold income of $26,673, however the average house only costs $63,300, so its all relative. it is also fairly diverse (by American standards) with a 26.2% black population. (city data) in the battle to replace John Parker Wilson, Arnold beat out SR Jimmy Barnes and several incoming recruits and has done a good job so far in Alabama's 5-0 season. However with Arnold's speed (77) i throw the ball less than i did with Wilson.

okay back to the WAC game. in the closing the minutes of Boise State's 42-14 blowout or Oregon St. (USC BCS points going down). i noticed that the 3rd string QB for Boise was kind of ethnic looking. so i did a background check on him and i found that he was a native of kuwait. Bush Hamdan is the younger brother Gibran Hamdan an IU grad and nfl europe mvp who recently signed with the 49ers practice squad. Their father Latif, was a nuclear engineer working at the Kuwaiti Institute of Scientific Research and they were vacationing in San Diego when Iraq invaded in the early 90s. Latif soon after landed a job with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and both of the sons became standout athletes at Bishop Denis J. O'Connell high school in Virginia. need i mention that the younger brother's name is "Bush" and in NCAA Football 07 he has Throwing Power rating of 87 and Throw Accuracy rating of 78. other than Lander's muslim connection in his dynasty(big ups Justin Abudullah), i can't think of anything else that would better unite east and west, than a muslim quarterback

Causes of the Crash

The Boom Bust Theory, The German Mark, and having a penalty occur when being up 14-0 towards the end of the 2nd quarter: what do they all have in common: all led to crashes. Of course one led to the great depression, while the other led to me spending the day on the beach. There is still debate as to which is worse, the events in 1929 or not being able to a complete a game on my PS2. I am guessing the latter. Anyways I was playing the #25 ranked South Carolina Gamecocks and I was up 14-0 towards the end of the second half, Bama was dominating. But....... an offside call occured and during the penalty animation sequence (NIS I believe is the industry term) my game crashed. Mmmmmm very similar to the last time I crashed when I was up 14-0 on Tennessee. So the lesson of the day kids, when you're up 14-0 don't get a penalty.

So I simmed the game and Bama ended up winning 27-26 in OT, my QB Chad Arnold threw 3 picks, yikes. That's okay though because the Tide is 5-0 and now I know the causes of the crash. Gee I should get a job finding these things.

That's all for this morning, in the meantime check out these youtube clips

texas tech Bellringer: what a jerk (hahaha I'm so clever)
pop warner coach takes out kid
UAB wideout takes out trainer

oh and of course whats a stolenbikedynasty post without a lonelygirl15 vid. This time she expresses her distress over Pluto (man we have so much in common) then on a more serious note, she talks about how kids at her school started saying very bad things about her and her teacher(man so much in common). Yes kids are horrible, I'm here for you kid

May December Romance

Ahem, here we go again. Demi and Ashton, Timothy Hutton and a then 15 year old Natalie Portman in Beautiful Girls, 20ish youtube addicts and lonelygirl15,, and my 2009 Bama team: What do they all have in common?

They're all successful May December Romances

Bama came into the 2009 season ranked #15 with a veteran D (only 2 underclassmen in the starting 11) and with an offence of first time starters, all of whom in the skill positions were Freshman's and Sophmores. Much like Demi and Ashton & of course Portman and Hutton, the two have blended togeather in perfect harmony to bring about an amazing 4-0 start with a #8 ranking and #6 media ranking. Quick recaps:

#15 Alabama vs. Colorado St. - Tuscaloosa
I scheduled the Rams, because real life Texas QB Jevan Snead had transferred there in my dynasty. This was to better prepare for my matchup in Austin. Redshirt SO Chad Arnold beat out Cali native, SR Jimmy Barnes for the starting QB spot with an outstanding spring game and an 87 OVR rating, compared to Barnes's 85. Bama would also see three true freshman with significant playing time with New Hampshire product Steve Ferguson (80 ovr) and Dominic Coles (80 over) splitting carries and Brandon Luke (84 ovr) in the #2 WR spot. SO Joel "JT" Thompson was in the #1 slot. Coles played well with 110 yards and 1 TD, while Ferguson added in 78 for 2 TDs. Coles = White; Feguson = Bush; Colorado St = no problem
Bama 37, CSU 7

#15 Alabama vs. Ole Miss - Oxford, MS
Back in the Oxford again, this would prove no problem as Arnold went 12-15 with 139 yards and 2 TDs. Luke got his first TD and sad news as Defensive captain and Hoover High alum Cory Reamer ended his career with a torn MCL.
Bama 35, Ole Miss 7

#15 Alabama vs. #5 Texas - Austin, TX
Wow is all I have to say. DE and London Ontario native Quentin Rawls along with SO 5 star DE Jason Parker (Texas native) took advantage of two FR tackles and Colt McCoy could not get his offence going. CB Jimmy Fernandez played tough on Texas's star WR allowing only 1 TD. The offence was not statistically impressive but they had good field position on ever play scoring an amazing 37 points!!!!!
Bama 37, UTA 7

#9 Alabama vs. # 12 Arkansas - Tuscaloosa
This rainy day game saw several fumbles on both sides of the ball, however FR Ferguson finally had his breakthrough game with 107 yards and 1 TD. And on his first EVER punt return, Ferguson produced a 55 yard TD. Defence played well with Fernandez making several key plays.
Bama 24, ARK 7

Things look good so far. I have switched to Pittsburgh's playbook from Utahs, to make better use of my running game. My secondary is amazing (all from the same recruiting class) with R-SO Miles and JR Fernandez with 3 INTs each. And my FR RBs have lived up to the hype, Ferguson now has an 82 ovr rating with 314 yards and 5 TDs, while Coles has 297 yards and 4 TDs

Veteran D + Youth Movement = Bama's 4-0 start

In other news, Alabama's official site has undergone a makeover, I like the new layout, check it out. That's all for now, I'm off to the beach as I've spent my whole off day playing video games. RIP Crocodile Hunter.

Recruiting Riches & New Lonelygirl15 Video

yikes, FSU pulled one off. Poor Paul. Couldn't find a bar along Broadway that had ESPN so I didn't see any of the game, also my bike lock was broken so I just went to a hipster cafe for some cafination (ya I know thats not a word) so I could do some recruiting. And I managed to pull in my best class yet with the ninth best in the nation. Highlights include

- Brandon Luke WR 6'7 202 - probably on basketball scholarship as well, this 5 star WR was the #1 overall player in the nation. He is from Ravenna, OH, which is just outside of Akron, He is good friends with Lebron James. He came into the game with an 84 rating. He will line up along side SO Joel Thompson as the #2 WR

- 4 Quarterbacks!!!. Two JUCOs, (however I converted one of them to a DE) & Two Freshman, although one of the Freshman is only there for his education as he is a Tuscaloosa native and only a 3 star recruit. None will factor in the battle to replace John Parker Wilson, (that battle is between SR Barnes and SO Chad Arnold)

- 3 Top 100 RBs. Could this be similar to USC class of 2003 or 2006. Along with 5 star studs Ferguson and Coles; see previous story. I added in 6'1 224 4 star Alabama native Chase Hill.

- A 3 star athlete by the name of Willie Williams (not to be confused with the real life thug ex-hurricane Willie Williams: good write up on willie here), oh ya did I mention that he was from Chino, CA

- 4 star WR Kenny Thronton 5'11 164, he's from the K Dub (Kitchener Waterloo) nuff said. Forever linked with our favorite CFL loving brothers. Gotta love my Canadians on the team.

Oh and keeping with the pro-hebrew, pro-lonelygirl15 undertones of this blog, lonelygirl15 has a new vid up talking about her religion and how she's going on a diet. Oh and this video pretty much sums up all our feeling towards lonelygirl15. Must say I love the headband

Captial One Heartbreak

Say it ain't so Joe. Alabama legend Joe Namath is 0-3 in bowl games after a 20-17 defeat to Michigan. In what was rightfully deemed (by dynasty AI) the 2nd greatest game of all time, this defensive battle became a shootout in the last 1:32 of the game. With Michigan up 13-10, J.P. Wislon threw at 4th down TD from Bama's own 13 to superstar freshman Joel Thompson (who was playing in his home town of Orlando) for an 87 yard TD. The pass was only 10 yards but J.T. broke through several defenders and stiff armed the last man down the field. However the lead would not last for long, Michigan QB Jason Forcier was poised and controlled the drive with short passes. Then SR Mario Mannigham shrugged off Bama corner Jimmy Fernandez (who had the game of his life until this point) and was open for a 60 yard TD. Michigan tears turned to cheers (click on photo) For the second year in a row Michigan beat Bama in a New Years Day Bowl.

Despite this defeat, the Administration was so impressed with the team's effort that they awarded Coach Namath a four year contract extension and he vowed to bring home a national title to Tuscaloosa, before he retires to coach Hawaii or USC.

End of Season notes

- 2008 final record 10-4, ranked #23 in Media and in Coaches
- National Title stays in BIG 10 with undefeated Ohio St beating Nebraska 49-21
- J.P. Wilson caps a stellar (such a BC word) record breaking career with 3447 yards and 29 TDs and only 15 INTs (I'm getting better a reading coverages)
- Florida Gators get revenge on the Noles beating them in the Sugar Bowl (Tebow declares for NFL Draft)
- 1st Team All American Honors for T Andre Smith and DC native FR K Jason Hall
- 2nd Team All American Honros for WR Michael McCoy who finished with 72-1510-13
- 1st Team All Freshman for Joel Thompson
- McCoy and Andre Smith leave for early for NFL
- Southlake Carroll (Texas HS powerhouse) star QB Greg McElroy leaves Bama for UCF
- Arizona loses Sun Bowl to #11 Notre Dame

Other notes

- just got a call from Pretty Paul in the Tdot, he will win a crapload of cash and will pay for our drinks in LA if Miami pulls off this victory over FSU
- I have no ESPN, so I'm watching the Laguna Marathon, however I will go downtown to a bar to watch the second half, but this second season of Laguna is keeping me in. (ahh memories). Watch this and this
- oh and I'm still amazed at how well USC played and Bama won their first game, nice.

John David's Booty, American Beer, & Ella Enchanted

Okay even though I wrote down USC 54, Arkansas 14, in my tiebrake for my pick'em league, I did not expect a 50 point performance. All I can say is wow!

These guys should've trained with Canadian beer

I managed to get a ride to the UW game and it was fun tailgating, but man now I know why everyone at Browns games always told me to bring down a two-four of canadian beer, American beer just gets you bloated. No wonder why it takes everyone 14 beers to get a buzz. People blame obesity on fast food, I would like to blame it on 4% beer. The only thing I didn't really like about the cinematic classic Beerfest, is that they didn't train with Canadian beer! Needless to say the UW game was fun, I was too drunk to take pics. Let's just say that purple shirt and denim skirts was the uniform of choice (gott love them west coast girls). The game was really crappy and ditto for some of the fans. They're just not as friendly as fans in the midwest. There are several incidents, but I'll talk about them in another entry. Let's just say that when you go to a Browns game or an SC game you instantly fall in love with the fans, I've been to a bunch of UW games and the fans just aren't as friendly or charming. However I have met some of the beat writers and older fans and those folks are really nice.

Okay now for some Dynasty updates, despite my Sunday hangover (thanks to some sunday pick up hoops, some tomato juice and a healthy dose of TBS movies on a sunday, yes I sat through Ella Enchanta and My Best Friends Wedding, kill me, kill me now) I was able to muster enough energy to finish my SEC Title game against 11-1 Florida. They blew an undefeated season by losing to Florida St and the eventual 2008 Heisman winner Drew Weatherford. So I was playing in my first conference tilte game, its funny because in NCAA 2001 I remember playing Florida twice in the conference title game, they beat me both times. And looks like I would lose for a third time. J.P. Wilson was strong going 5-6 with 57 yards in the first quarter, however a late hit got him knocked out of the game with a concussion. And backup Barnes who was impressive in the Iron Bowl, was ineffective. I even tried to use 3rd string Qb, redshirt Freshman Chad Arnold, but he was just as bad. The game was close however as I only lost 28-23. Tebow did not put up impressive stats but made several key third down conversions. I lost the SEC title, but hey I won the Iron Bowl and now 10-3 Alabama is headed to the Capital One Bowl against Michigan. Same matchup from my bowl game last year in which Michigan came out on top. Oh and 12-1 Nebraska plays 13-0 Ohio St in the national title. Thats all for now I gots to finish my 2nd nfl fantasy draft and I can't multi-task too well.
