Finally LSU defeated and Iron Bowl Preview

Wooohoooooo with no Early Doucet and no JaMarcus Russell (thank you graduation), Bama went into Death Valley as the favorite. LSU was starting a True Freshman QB however he had an 84 rating. LSU played the ball control game the first half and my D could not stop the run tandem of Trindon Holliday and R.J. Jackson and LSU had a 14-6 lead at the half. However coach Joe Namath must've yelled at his D and J.P. Wilson at half time. Bama dominated from then on. Using various zones and blitzes I was able to finally stop the run. Then Bama Played the Ball controll game and after establishing an effective running game J.P. Wilson took over. He finished 20-33 with 338 yards and 2 TDs. McCoy had an incredible 9 receptions for 192 yards and true freshman Joel Thompson was 6-78-1. Bama left Baton Rogue with a 27-21 victory. Louisiana native and 2009 Bama commit Dominic Coles was in the stands with his family and was happy that he made the right decision.

Alabama is now ranked #17 and sits at 9-2. They have a shot to go to the SEC Title game against undefeated Florida who is led by Tim Tebow and his 38 TDs. Auburn is also at 9-2. Here is how the SEC West standings look:

Bama 6-1
Auburn 5-2
Arkansas 5-2

Bama just needs to focus on the win in order to get a trip to Atlanta, however it will be tough. Once again the Iron Bowl will feature two Hoover QBs in J.P. Wilson (pictured above right: yes I know thats the first ever football action shot I've ever had in this blog) and Auburn SO Neil Caudle. Wilson is having a record breaking year with 2926 yards 28 TDs. Caudle has been injured most of the year but has led the Tigers to their current 5 game win streak. Also a force will be Auburn super Sophmores Tate who rushed for 1317 yards and 11 TDs and Tim Hawthorne who has 12 REC TDs. Of course the SEC leader in REC TDs is Bama's McCoy with 13. So it should be a fun game.

Might not do updates for awhile as I'm going to the Washington Huskies opener and also have various Fantasy Football drafts to focus on + real Bama game vs. my island brothers from Hawaii + USC game vs Arkansas. So yall have a good weekend

ROLL TIDE

p.s. lonelygirl15 has a new video up

Hazlehurst, Altamonte Springs, Suncook ,Meraux

Due to popular demand, its time for "Meet the Team". In this segement I would like to talk about two true Freshmen who have made an impact on my 2008 team and two commits for the 2009 season.

Bernard Quinn DT, Hazlehurst, MS
At 6'6 309 lbs, this monster (who runs a 4.88 40!!!!!!) was recruited as an ATH. Needing depth at DT and on the OL I didn't expect much for the 3 star recruit, however he came into the season with a suprising 78 overall rating. Then in week 4 he bursts to an 82, this without any PT (must've done good in practice) So I had to put him in the starting lineup and he has been a force in the pass rush ever since. Bernard comes from a small town (4,400 pop) that has a 68% black population and only an average household income of $25,000 --> city info. Of course Quinn is not the most famous resident as Hazlehurst is the birthplace of the one and only blues legend Robert Johnson!

Joel Thompson WR Altamonte Springs, FL
This 5 star inseason recruit with 4.16 speed has lived up to expectations as he was rated the #1 WR in the nation. So far he has 525 yards for 6 TDs and he returns punts and kickoffs. He probably had an easier life than Quinn as Altamonte Springs is a nice little upper middle class town just outside of Orlando. His childhood hero was NBA star and ex-Raptor Tracy McGrady. With his star status throughout high school, he probably slept with 80% of the women listed here on this Altamonte Springs area myspace search.

Stever Ferguson Suncook, NH & Dominic Coles Meraux, LA
Grouped these two 5 star early commits for the 2009 season together because I am hoping that they'll be the Bama equivalent to Cadillac/Brown or Bush/White. The two 5 star recruits with sub 4.4 speed were both sold on the Tide's Prestige, but both come from entirely different backgrounds. Ferguson is from the small river town of Suncook in NH. Some may view him as a carpetbagger but that won't bother him. With only a 0.5% black population (city data) Ferguson spent most of his time on golf courses and fishing on his canoe. He learned his football by playing in summer leagues in nearby Quebec.

Coles on the other hand is from football crazy Louisiana. Meraux is in the Saint Bernad Parish area of New Orleans which in real life (sad story alert) was destroyed by Katrina.

Here is a good article from the New York Times about football being used as a refuge from Katrina. And here is a story about how Bastrop high school is losing its state title on claims that it had illegally recruited kids from hurricane shelters. But as Coach Crutchfield, whose kids were the ones that were recruited, states in the Times article

"Even if rules were technically violated, and some penalty was deserved, Crutchfield said, any player who lost everything in a storm would have been tempted by someone who offered a ride, money, a place to live, a chance to keep playing football. “I might have taken it, too,”

Utah's Spread Offence & Miss St. losses Twice

So much to tell. I'll have to put in several entries today. First off I would like to stand up and clap for Mr. Landerz (also the name of my female jockey in Gallop Racer 2006) for taking his Samoan led Arizona Wildcats to a national title game despite the fact that Bama lost in the SEC title game to the Vols!

College football (real) started yesterday and the feature game on ESPN was a snoozer in which the South Carolina Fighting Gamecocks beat the Miss St. Bulldogs 15-0. Thankfully a Seahawks preseason game was on local TV. However the start of the new season got me pumped to play some video game football and I fought off my biological need for sleep (something I've been lacking this week) to take on 2-7 Mississippi St. I decided to try a new playbook and choose Utah's spread offence. And what a delight it was. J.P. Wilson threw "ZERO" INTs!!!!!!!!!!! He finished with 236 yards and 3 TDs. This was also the first time this year I got to play my second team and Hoover High's (featured in MTV's Two a Days, very good show) Cory Reamer returned an INT for a TD in a 37-10 blowout.

Utah Ain't So Bad, Neither is Beating the Vols

After much distress, I finally completed a game in my Bama Dynasty. I believe last Thursday was the last time I finished a game. The matchup which featured #22 Alabama vs. #24 Tennessee in Knoxville, was very uneventfull despite the fact that it was named the #2 all time game. J.P. Wilson threw 3 INTs in the first half again, however he was superb in the 2nd half finishing the game with 310 yards and 2 TDs. Final score was 30-24 but the game was littered with turnovers galore on both sides. My Bama team is now at 7-2, with Miss St and a bunch of recruits coming for a visit to Tuscaloosa. The real Miss St plays today vs. the bootleg USC as College Football kicks off today.

Anways here's a vid a coworker sent me with some indie rocker getting owned by a water bottle.Oh and if I do a Dynasty with a mid major I may have to pick Utah. I thought everyone in Utah was mormon. This is courtesy of UDubdish, by way of bruinsnation Yes Couger (not the BYU kind) and freshman unite, in Utah of all places.

Game Freeze, Delmon Young & Arnold Recruiting Video

The game locked up on me last night. I was in Knoxville playing #24 Tennessee (Bama is 6-2 at #22) and was up 14-0. Then in the closing seconds of the half, my SS intercepted a pass, but at the same time there was a pass interference call. This was follwed by that weird bzzzzzzzzzz noise and the game crashed. WTF? With this crash and the Ole Miss fumblitis incident I feel like someone out there does not want me to finish my 3rd season. I was so angry that I decided to go and smash things, too bad someone caught me on tape.

Is it because I neglected you for 3 whole days. Man this is like taking off on your girlfriend to go on a fishing trip with the boys and then your girl gives you no love when you come back. Okay I apologize. Just let me finish my game. I promise to give you more attention tonight.

In other news

- lonelygirl15 has posted on new vid, its weird and creepy, lacks the charm of HBO's, errr I meant "HER" other vids
- Delmon Young, whom yall might remember from this bat throwing incident, hit his first HR last night. All this after he was introduced to majors by getting hit by a pitch in his first AB. This boy is going tear it up.
- true freshman C.J. Gable looks to be the heir to Reggie Bush
- note to self: don't wear mask or cape when robbing bank
- finally baseball in the holy land
- and last but not least, due to popular demand I dug up the Ben Arnold recruiting video from Rivals.com

re: When is it acceptable?

First read this article.

So after a three day layoff I decided to finally make time for a game, despite coming home late from unforseen circumstances at work. It was #23 5-2 Alabama coming off an upset over #9 Notre Dame vs. a mediocre 3-3 Ole Miss team. Okay so in response to the article above.

1. when your first four passes to open WRs are dropped
2. when two fumbles (not the band) occur at the goaline before the half
3. when a 4th down conversion occurs from Ole Miss twenty in the dying seconds, where the QB got hit, ball was fluttering in the air about 30 yards, then a 78 OVR WR cut through double coverage from my 85+ OVER DBs and runs it in for a TD.
4. when in response to point #3, I throw two passes into to an open "Impact" WR in the end zone and he drops the first one and fumbles the second.

The game was in Tuscaloosa, the momentum meter was in my favor, my sliders for WR catch was set at 75 yet for some reason the A.I. did not want me to win this game. Hence the reset button. Not wanting to replay this game and itching to play rival Tennessee, I simmed the game and would accept the loss if the sim engine determined so. And fair enough Bama won 49-14. The only thing that upsets me about this is the fact that my profile record now no longer matches my dynasty record. Man life can be so hard! J.P. Wilson threw for 3TDs and Ben Arnold got his first TD of the year. Also since its week 8, he now has the same OVR rating as Top H.S. WR Joel Thompson, as Arnold was bumped from 78 to 80. Thompson and Arnold are sick yo!

-in the meantime enjoy this video of my kids.
-here is a funny preseason 25

Benedict Arnold; Lonelygirl15, & Bama still at 5-2

Okay, I'll admitt it. I did not play NCAA Football 07 for my PS2 for three whole days. I know I'm sorry. I apologize. Some Dynasty junkie I am. Apologies to all, but I would like to place blame on four things.

1. Work
2. Sazeracs
3. $1.50 pints and dancing the night away with "experienced" women
4. lonelygirl15 (we'll go into this later)

Since I haven't played a game since my last blog update, let's spend some time to get to know some of the players on the team. Now we all know that I love JUCO transfers, cuz they love football but hate high school academics. I went nuts the first year they put them in the game. So this year I've recruited several JUCOs but none rated high enough to crack my starting lineup. However in 2008 I signed Ben Arnold, a JCSOPH WR from a small town outside of Philly called West Norriton, Pennsylvania.

West Norriton's black population is only 6.1%, which is 5% points higher than Vancouver BC's black population. Now the game doesn't give H.S. history, but I am assuming that he dominated there until he transferred to a private school in Philly for his senior year. He had a standout year, but the star WR also learned in history class that he shared a similar name with America's biggest traitor, Hillary Clinton, uhh whoops I meant Benedict Arnold. Distressed by his findings, Ben attempted to stab his American History teacher. He spent time in prison and lost a chance at a scholarship to Penn St. Thus he spent a year in JUCO and dominated.

Namath, being from PA, decided to take a chance on this 4* WR with 4.39 speed, despite his small size 5'11 165 and 'Poor' Discipline rating which EA gave him. In 2008 Ben has overcome fumble problems and is #4 on the WR depth chart and returns Kickoffs. Ben has a 78 OVR rating. He has made key catches so far, as Bama has switched to Spread Offence. So far he has stayed out of trouble, so cheers to a good 3 years in Tuscaloosa.

Once again congrats to Landers for bridging the gap between East and West as he has a star muslim WR in Justin Abdullah and a muslim kicker who look poised to take the Wildcats to a national title.

As for lonelygirl15, who has one of the "most viewed channels" on youtube. Well looks like things with her and Daniel are going to be all right. Below was her peace offering. For more on her saga this is a good article. Go Joey go, uhh I meant lonelygirl!
