Kelly Clarkson Rocks, Tide Back in SEC West Race

Okay I've gotten over the Matthew Stafford assault on Bama and have come back with three straight wins. Sitting at 7-2 (4-1) , Namath's boys are now chasing LSU 8-1 (5-0) for the SEC west title . Their only loss was to The Ohio State University.

Quick recap

#25 Bama vs. #14 Tennessee - Tuscaloosa, AL

After throwing two INT's on my first two drives, I focused on the run and dominated from there (using Arizona's playbook) Coffee finished with 124 yards and 2 TDs, while Upchurch rushed for 109 yards and 1 TD in a 37-14 upset over Tennessee. 5 star WR Joel Thompson from Florida was so impressed that he signed with the Tide

#21 Bama vs. Miss St. - Starkville, MS

Big news starting FR DE Quentin Rawls of London, Ontario was caught cheating on an exam. I only suspended him 2 games rather than the 4 that was recomended because he's Canadian and was probably just bored with American education standards rather than just being plain dumb. Besides he came to the USA to party with chicks and also for a shot at the NFL

Had a hard time covering their WR Burks, who finished with 169 yards and 2 TDs. However my focus on the run, mostly to the left side (star T Andre Smith is on that side) sparked the Tide's offence. Coffee finished with 202 yards and 2 TDs while Upchurch had 94 yards 2 TDs and he added in a REC TD. Bama 48, Miss St. 31

next up: Vandy, then a big game at Tuscaloosa against LSU

Finally despite a key loss to USC, U of A (Zona that is) legend Chrisitian was kind enough to send me this video of Kelly Clarkson rocking out with her buddy JD

So I'm off to do the Grosse Grind and then Boise st. (Cubs farm team) vs. Van Canadians 2 nite !!!!!!

My 15 Minutes of Internet Fame !!!!!!!!!!!

Man I feel like a little school girl here, who has just met Lance Bass (or school boy). Warren St. John author of Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer has linked me on his website. Man I don't know how to respond (chris help!), I only thought my friends and coworkers roamed around here. His book rules. Also EDSBS (a college football site that I've been reading for awhile) has linked me too. Nice!!!! This is much better than when I met Nelson Mandela.

Very Nice Friday Gift. Great that's all I need with the weekend coming up, more reason to play my Bama Dynasty

cheers

4 Prime Reasons why Jews are Great

1. Jason and Randy Sklar.

These brothers (blood, not black) have been hosting The Jim Rome Show (9-11 AM on the Team 1040) the last couple of days; haven't laughed that hard in awhile. I'm hooked. They regularly have a show called ESPN Cheap Seats. Also here's their official site

2. Kevin Youkilis and Gabe Kapler

I hate the Red Sox (Jays rule), but hey I can't argue with Dennis Leary praise of the Jewish Peoples. Take that Mel. (watch the vid quick before its taken off)

3. Brent Schaeffer QB, Ole Miss

Greatest Black Jew since Sammy Davis Jr. (well at least in the Video Gameworld) Yes I've returned to my SEC Bama Dynasty. And once again the key to my 34-24 victory at Ole Miss was to triple spy Schaeffer all game. This guy was sick. Schaeffer had 2 Pass TDs and one rush TD. But once again my WR McCoy had a clutch TD in the 4th quarter. Bama is back in the Top 25 (5-2) in Year 2 and I have rival Tennessee up next at home, who beat me last year.

Last but not least

4. Natalie Portman (more than 10 years of obsession and still going)

J.P. Ricciardi / Hinske footage !!!!!!!!!!!

This just in. I have uncovered footage of Blue Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi and ex-Jay rookie of the year Eric Hinske. Actually this might be Grunwald / McGrady footage (still hurts). Tear goes out whenever a loved Tdot athlete leaves.

season finale of the Hills on MTV Canada next week (don't ruin ending for me Americans, thanks)

Engagement University No Problem, but missing the SEC

Take that Napa Valley, or San Joaquin Valley, who cares? Same thing, go drink wine. Errr , okay so Sideways was a good movie. I easily handled Fresno St (called the engaged university, I have no idea what that means) in my last non-conference game beating them 45-10. Stanback was 12-21-123-1-1, while Rankin took over for an injured Kenny James rushing for 113 yards and 2 TDs.

While I am having a blast playing with a speedy QB, I got to admit that I miss my Dynasty in the SEC. Its just that Matthew Stafford pissed me off so much. Damn Texas H.S. QBs (but hey Southlake Carroll QBs, Bobby Reid, and Mike Winchell you are all good in my books) My Bama dynasty is backed up on a mem card, so I guess I can play both pending on mood.

Anyways I'm too lazy to internet today, does anyone know who was on the Jim Rome show this morning? I was half awake but the two guys were really funny this morning.

Other items:

- the Alabama Season Ticket designs look pretty sweet
- along with Washington and the freshman studs, Cali Defensive High School standout Allen Bradford has joined the mix in the search for replacing Bush and White
- also since they have this dumb salary cap in the NHL now, I guess the Leafs are going to have to focus on the farm. Here is our Top Prospects. Noteworthy is #3, Robbie Earl (pictured left) a black kid from L.A. who was a standout for the Wisconsin Badgers, (you can bet I'll buy his jersey if he ever makes it)
- On a sadder note former Blue Jay rookie of the year Eric Hinske is now a Red Sox.

Sooners Down in Upset, Scoop not that bad

I just beat the #8 Oklahoma Sooners, in Norman 17-14. Though the game was not as close as the score indicates with one of OU's TDs coming in the closing seconds of the 4th quarter. Stanback was unstoppable rushing for 126 yards and 1 TD, oh ya I forgot to mention that he's the QB and was 12 of 18 for 110 yards and 1 TD. But hey its like UW has a wishbone offence as RB Kenny James had 86 yards and Louis Rankin had 66. OU star Peterson was held under 100 yards as the Huskies D was outstanding. Very happy with upset win, nuff said. Fresno State up next

In other news,

- Ron Artest tells kids that brawlin' is good times
- I didn't mind Woody Allen's newest flick Scoop, despite the bad reviews, I liked it. Everyone still has Matchpoint fresh in their minds, which might be the reason for the negativity, either that or I was perhaps transfixed on scarlett's boobs. She's very attractive as an awkward geek in glasses

Go Huskies, G'nite

Huskies Dynasty off to good start; Apology to Landers

Bama Dynasty is on hiatus for now!. I miss Darby. So I'm going to basically every UW football home game this year so I guess I'll try a dynasty with them. Plus its nice to get off to a fresh start with Lander's sliders (small tweaks of course) and an entirely different offence from Bama. No doubt the key focus will be on QB Isaiah Stanback, he's the fastest QB in the game. Only threw the ball 12 times with 7 completions as he rushed for 72 yards. But of those 7 completions, 3 were for TDs to Corey Williams who fnished with 5-101-3. C.J. Wallace was great on D too, as the SENIOR safety had 3 INTs. Eat it San Jose St.
UW 38, SJSU 10

up next Oklahoma and I used default rosters, so Bomar is still there, Damn it!

Recruiting Notes

Two key Canadian 4 star recruits have UW at the top of their lists. Rory Robinson a CB from beautiful Abbotsford, BC and Mike Horton (possible relation to Maple Leaf legend Tim, even though Mike is black and has cornrows) a WR from Oshawa, Ontario. Yes that it is a picture of a Tim Hortons in Oshawa. Click on photo for more info.

O'Canada

Finally an apology to Chris Lander. I knew you'd hate the Reviews on Reviews, but I was bored at work and that Village Voice review really bugged me. I'll keep my hatred towards New Yorkers minimal on this blog.

Reviews on Reviews: Little Miss Sunshine

Okay this is a new a section I'm adding to my blog (ya I know blogs are soooo 2004, bite me), I'll be naming it Reviews on Reviews. I spend way too much time reading book, moive, tv show and music reviews and most are often over analitical and boring. So furthering my efforts of procrastination I'll take a bunch of reviews and tell you which are best. Our first movie: Little Miss Sunshine

reviews being reviewed: Village Voice, Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor, and the Georgia Straight

Village Voice - jim ridley
mr. ridley does not like this movie, on metacritic his review gives LMS its lowest rating. From the bitterness of the article he seems to be very jelous of all the attention this movie has been getting . He seems to only like the weird Beauty Pagent scene at the end. Oh and he uses the word "platitudinous" to make us common folk who enjoyed the movie, feel lower than him and his PBR drinking friends. Overall he's just too cool for this movie and wishes he prehaps played kickball instead of watching this flick, nevertheless a fun read and his resentment towards this film will make you feel better about yourself. I think there was too much family happiness in LMS for mr.ridley, he needs a hug.
9 out 10

Washington Post - jennifer frey
Simple, easy to read, positive review. Like mr. ridley, ms. frey recognizes the sitcom style humor in the movie, but sums up the general feeling of the film But mostly it's just funny. Really, really funny. And absolutely worth 800 miles of riding along in a VW bus.
8 out of 10

Chrisitan Science Monitor - peter rainer
I am by no means a hardcore christian, but kudos (actually 2 Kudos, heh heh myspace reference) goes out to mr. rainer for understanding the whole point of LMS, which is despite their dysfunction this family will doing anything for each other, "...the directors proceed to tutor us in the virtue of family togetherness. You see, deep down these battlers really love each other. Blood is thicker than shtick." Simple and to the heart, but point taken off for cutting up National Lampoon type humour
7 out of 10

Georgia Straight (Vancouver) - ken eisner
Okay the Tolstoy reference at the beginning of the review is a bit much, (we all know youre smart, working for Vancouver's version of NOW Magazine) nevertheless this is a good overall review that does not go too much into the content of the LMS.
7 out of 10

Me personally I loved Little Miss Sunshine and as did the crowd in Seattle that I watched this with. It was simple, yet slick and deep down you end of loving this family. I'm gonna go call my Dad now.

oh p.s. I figure since I'll be attending several UW games, that I should get to know the team, so here comes a UW Huskies Dynasty. Don't worry Chris, I will feel guilty everytime U of A is on the schedule

p.p.s yes not capitalizing the reviewer's names is intentional, because they are lower than us viewers

Oh my Gawd, a nite without NCAA

Yes, yes, I apologize Tony and Landers and to all those other Dynasty freaks. I went through a night without playing NCAA Football. I must admit that those losses to ND and UGA are still getting to me. I will find time to play a game tonight though as I have a matchup in Oxford (photo from the Grove, right) and I'm sure Blind Jim Ivy will be waiting for me. I'll make sure to remove Dylan's Oxford Town from my ipod.

- Here's some Youtube fun

- so whoa, apparently Alabama has a hockey team I only played AA but I'm fairly confident I would make this team
- this is an oldie but goodie, a preppy fighting a cholo
- keeping with latin flavor, actually I believe by their accents that they're Andalusian and not South American at all, here's a classic
- and here's a preview of what the Leafs have to look forward to. A hit on some Finnish dude from when Peca was on the Canucks. Now he's back in his hometown where he belongs. Go Leafs !

In other news:

- Bosh isn't doing so well on Team USA, but who cares
- USC star WR Dwayne Jarrett loves mooching rides
- And former Terrapin baller Lonny Baxter keeps it real in front of the White House

Stafford Owns Bama and Laguna Soccer

ya the native of Dallas lit me up for 293 yards and 4 TDs. Did i also mention that he sat out the 4th quarter and had 250 yards and 4 TDs at the half. Bama was down 28-6 at the half and only got points on UGA's 2nd team D. Lone highlight was a J.P. Wilson TD bomb to my main man Mike McCoy for 95 yards. J.P. was 15-28-333-1, but had 3 INTs. McCoy shined again with 5 REC 183 YARDs and 1 TD. UGA 35 BAMA 20

Bama (4-2) is now out of the TOP 25 but at least Auburn (4-2) lost their last two as well. Ole Miss is next

Oh ya about the pic, ya thats just some girl, (her name is Katy Dowling) on the UW soccer team from Laguna Beach. She thinks Kirsten and LC are losers and turned down Jason on several occasions because he smokes. But would probably date Matt Stafford, if he does in real life what he did to my Bama team in the video game. Laguana Beach Season 3 starts on MTV Canada soon. Wooooohoooo!

5 games in: Bama at 4-1 in year 2

Here's a recap, since my last update of my 2nd year in dynasty(2007)

# 10 recruiting class (3 Frosh starters on D)
Colorado W 31-28
at Maryland W 13-10
Northern Illinois W 61-21
still no #1 HB, Coffee, Johns (my FB), & Upchurch, all split carries

next two games were against ranked teams Arkansas, who whooped me last year and I don't know why, but I scheduled Notre Dame in South Bend

#18 Arkansas W 48-44 4OTs

Game started out well. John Parker Wilson was unstoppable hitting his first 10 passes as Bama took a 21-14 lead into the half. Then something happened, the Hawgs D stepped up and J.P. threw 3 picks in the third quarter. The Hawgs were up 28-21 with a minute left, then bammmmmmm Keith Brown returns a punt return for a TD.Here we go to overtime. Ended up going into four overtimes. Sophmore Mike McCoy (pictured right , yes that is an Auburn shirt), who was silent in regulation stepped it up getting 2 key TDs in OT along with the game winning 2 point conversion. He is my 4th WR, but McCoy is also my #2 TE, so I exploited the matchup with their OLB (should've done it the entire game) Clearly the MVP, finally tally 6 REC 134 YARDS 2 TDs, most of it in OT. I hope JR Darren McFadden leaves for the NFL early, because he was unstoppable with 170 yards and 2TDs, all in the second half. Regardless Bama gets a key SEC west victory. ESPN rates game as #1 overall. Bama hits Coach's poll at #22 and Media at #23; Roll Tide!

at #12 Notre Dame L 21-24

No real life early UND commit Jimmy Clausen or his funky hair and speedos in the video game, but regardless Zach Fraser lights up my D for 302 yards and 2 TDs. I don't really have much to say about this game, except OUCH! See you in Tuscaloosa next year jerks! McCoy was the top WR with 2 receptions 62 yards and 1 TD. J.P. was much better going 12-18-165-1-1. Game was a battle of Defences and Zach Fraser put on a show in the 2nd half (another second half breakdown) Notre Dame 24, Bama 21

Man and I use to like ND, booooo!

next up undefeated Georgia at Home. The #2 RB from Kirkland, WA will be visiting, I better win that one.

"You Need to Call Tyrone....."

..... but ya can't use my phone." Great Erykah Badu tune. Haha but here's hoping that Tyrone Willingham (yup that's me and Ty) turns around the Husky's fortunes this year. Although in this year's NCAA game, starting QB Isaiah Stanback was given an 88 in speed the highest rating for QBs. I want UW to do well, but I do not see Stanback having a Vince Young type year. Somebody doing DB for NCAA 07 must've been a UW grad. Still that might be good enough to make me complete a season with them, along with my Bama Dynasty of course. Oh ya and some UW hotties suckered me into buying a three game mini pack, so I guess I'll be following the Dawgs this year. But don't worry Tony and Chris, you know I love U of A and SC. Back to Ty, really solid dude. I did not really want an autograph but he saw that I was read Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer and left me a message, I guess he thought I was from the South. Anyways I've been neglecting the game, so its off to play Arkansas and maybe I'll start a UW dynasty as well.

In other news

- The real "Myron Rolle" added me on my space
- Little Miss Sunshine = my favorite summer movie so far
- Lander's got blown out in the Insight.com bowl, OUCH!
- and gotta love those UW sorority kids. Thanks for the hospitality!
